Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock

Happy New Year's Eve Everyone!

At school, my daughter made the cutest Christmas gifts for us out of paint stir sticks.  The first is a snowman and the second has three jingle bells and a rock glued to it...jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell, rock!  I was super impressed with her 2nd grade teacher's creativeness on these.

What perfect way to scrapbook a "rock" page than with Rock Princess!  Jingle Bell phrases were welded on the gypsy using Gypsy Font.  All other cuts are from Rock Princess.  Some of the cuts came out too small, so for the whites of the eyes I used a white gel pen and for the lips I used a pink pen.  Paper is Recollections - Bright and Jolly.

Quick Xmas Tags

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share a quick, easy and cute Christmas tag with you.

The tag and shadow are from the TBBM cartridge cut at 3".  The buckle I welded together on the gypsy using squares from Plantin Schoolbook.  The buttons are iRock Glam Rocks - Metallic Pearl.  Gold Stickles were used on the belt buckle.

Christmas Cards

What a busy weekend!  My daughter, Sophia, had three holiday recital performances for her dance academy - one on Saturday night and two on Sunday afternoon.  Although I wasn't thrilled about another weekend being dedicated to dance, it was a great show and all of the dancers did a fabulous job!

Since next week is her dance academy Christmas party, I made up some quick cards for Sophia to give to her team coach, office manager and the academy owner along with their Christmas presents.  The paper is printed on the Cricut Imagine from the Mr. Frosty cartridge and the images are for the Simply Charmed cartridge at 3.2"

Stick on gems were used for they eyes and the cuts were inked with distressed inks.  Sentiment stamp is from My Pink Stamper.

Birthday Diva Card

Hi Everyone!

Below is a card I made for my niece's birthday.  The skull (cut at 2.3") and diva phrase (cut at 1") are from the Rock Princess Cartridge.  The zebra paper is printed from the Teresa Collins Black and White cartridge onto pink Bazzill cardstock - I was surprised that it turned out pink with purple zebra stripes instead of pink with gray or black stripes, but the purple actually worked out perfectly.

The pink mat is embossed with the swirls cuttlebug folder.

Teddy Bear Swap

Back in September I signed up for a Teddy Bear Swap on the Cricut Circle Message board hosted by Rockin Renee.  We had until November 10th to make and mail our bears from the Teddy Bear Parade Cricut Cartridge.

I needed to make 25 of each bear (50 bears in all) at 5" and in return I will receive one of each of the different 50 bears in return.  Since I should be receiving the bears any day now, I thought I would share the two I created.

I used distressed ink on both bears for added dimension and crystal effects on their noses.  The first is the basketball bear - his headband is embellished with FlowerSoft, the #1 on his uniform has purple stickles and the basketball is embossed using the cuttlebug.  I originally tried to use flock on his headband, but found that the FlowerSoft gave it a better terrycloth look.

Next is the school girl bear - I used liquid pearls on her glasses, added a tiny button to her vest and used actual ribbon instead of the cut out from the cartridge.  For the apple, metallic red paper was used to give it the shiny apple look.

I can't wait to get them and see everyone's creativity!

Trip to the ER

Thursday night we had to make a trip to the Emergency Room.  My daughter was helping make cookies and fell off the stool in the kitchen.  We didn't realize at first that she had a chin laceration until we had her lay down.  Off to the emergency room we went - thank goodness it wasn't busy.  After some shots to numb the area, the doctor put in 4 stitches and did tell us she would end up with a small scar.

Baptism Card

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I am super excited that today my goddaughter will be baptised.  I was very honored when my friends asked me to be their daughter's godmother!

Of course such an occasion just has to have a handmade card!  I saw a baby card on the cricut circle blog about a year ago and thought it would be perfect.  My version utilized only items from my stash and is a bit simpler than the one I saw.

The card base and the moon are all from the Campin' Critters cartridge.  Patterned paper is Recollections - All Girl and Ki Memories  - Enchanting.

I used distressed ink on the cuts, glitter, dimensionals and an iRock pearl embellishment.

Pilgrim Squirrel

Hi!

Hope you all had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am sharing a Thanksgiving Card with you that I made for a friend at work.  There has been lots of "talk" about the Create a Critter 2 cartridge that I figured it was time to pull out the original Create a Critter cartridge.

The Squirrel and hat are cut at 3.5" from the Create a Critter cartridge - the hat is from the turkey on the cartridge.  I used the gypsy hide contours feature so that the eyes would not cut.  The band on the hat was cut by hand and I used the gypsy to layer 2 squares to cut the hat buckle.  Patterned cardstock is DCWV Harvest Matstack.

Peachy Keen Teddy Bear face stamps were used for the eyes, all cuts were inked with Distressed Ink and the nose was accented with Crystal Lacquer.

Happy Birthday Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I've got another card for you using the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge - I did warn y'all that this was one of my favorites so you'll probably be seeing it quite often...lol.

My younger sister was born on Thanksgiving Day and this year her birthday once again falls on Thanksgiving.  What more fitting as a birthday card than one with a turkey on it - well, really a bear dressed liked a turkey!  I made this almost 2 weeks ago, but scheduled it to post so that my sister wouldn't see if before she received the card.

Patterned paper is DCWV Indian Summer - I distressed the edges using the back part of the Exacto knife blade.  Bear and layers are cut at 3.5".  I used Distressed Ink on the cuts and lots of Stampin' Up dimensionals.

Clown Teddy Bear

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!  My daughter had a birthday party to attend today, so I had to put together a quick card for the occasion.

The more stuff that I have to create with, the harder it is for me to make a decision and come up with ideas.  So, after much deliberation, we decided on the clown bear from my new favorite cartridge - Teddy Bear Parade.

The bear is cut at 3.5" with paper from my scraps bin.  The card is a standard A2 and the base patterned paper is from Recollections Bold Basics.  The smaller strip of paper is Recollections Mosaic Memories.  The Recollections paper packs are made by DCWV and although I don't love all of the patterns/colors in a pack, it is a really great value especially when on sales at Ms.

In retrospect, I would have added some ribbon but since I didn't have much time to put it together this would have to do.

Teddy Bear Fisherman

Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to get better about making cards ahead of time instead of having to rush to make one when I need it or worse yet, forget to even send one.  Although I think I've done better than in the past, I haven't been completely successful so far, but I'm trying to keep looking forward and not focus on all of that :)  So, this time, I went ahead and made 2 similar cards right away.

I'm just loving the new Teddy Bear Parade cartridge, so I'm sure you'll be seeing lots of posts with these cute little guys.  Every since I was an infant, I have loved teddy bears.  And, although I no longer have a huge teddy bear collection, I still cannot resist how cute they are.  So, of course this card is made with the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge!  I found this Fisher-bear to be so adorable.

Teddy bear is cut at 4".  I used Distressed ink on the edges of most of the cuts, silver Liquid Pearls on the lure on his hat and added a 1" fish from Potpourri Basket to the line.  Patterned paper is DCWV from one of their autumn stacks.

I didn't stamp a sentiment on because I'm still undecided if these will end up being birthday cards or a father's day cards.

Simple Scrapbook Pages

Happy Autumn!

Although I love the fall colors and the crispness in the air, I know that the cold weather is right around the corner.  With Fall in mind, the 2 scrapbook pages I'm sharing today contain photos taken in October a few years ago.

All of the patterned paper is from DCWV.

The shovels are cut from Dinosaur Tracks.  I added brown chalk to the ends to give the appearance of dirt and pop dots for added dimension.

Click on the pictures to enlarge

The font on this next page is from Hannah Montana and the 11 is from Sweet Treats.  My nephew/godson is a big Tony Hawk fan and for his 11th birthday I gave him Tony Hawk autographed shoes that Tony wore in competition (yep they're pretty beat up) and an autographed Tony Hawk picture.

Below is a close up of some of the white pen doodling I added to the letters.

Back to School

Hi Everyone!

Well, it's that time of year again...time to start the school year.  Some of you may remember that last school year I took on the monumental task of creating a backpack note for my daughter every day.  After about three months of this, I quickly started getting burned out with making them so this year I have decided that I will be creating them randomly.  Here's a picture of most of the backpack notes from last school year that my daughter taped to her bedroom door.

Sophia is super excited to be starting second grade this year.  So, I of course have to start off the first day of school (tomorrow) with a backpack note.  Plus, I just purchased the most adorable cartridge ever - Teddy Bear Parade!  I just love teddy bears, so I fell in love with this cartridge immediately.

All cuts are at 5".  I used Stickles on the bow, Liquid Pearls on the badge on the vest, Diamond Glaze on the nose and stick on gems on the corners of the glasses.

Isn't she just the cutest school girl!?!?!?

A Few Cards....

Hi Everyone!

I have a few cards to post for you tonight!

The first one is scrap lifted from the Cricut Circle blog with some minor tweaks.  A friend of mine had her baby boy a few weeks early so I had to put together a quick card.

Bee and clouds are from Create A Critter and the diamond background is from Paper Lace.  Frosted Lace Stickles were used on the wings and antennae of the bee.  Card is 4.25" X 4.25"

This next card uses a stamp from Sarasota Stamps which I embossed with black embossing powder.  The butterfly is colored in with Pearlescent Watercolors.  The colors looks weird without the flash, so I also took a picture with the flash on so you can see the colors and embossing better.

If you're on Facebook, would you please vote for my daughter...

Hi,

If you already are on facebook and wouldn't mind, my 7 year old daughter - Sophia - would love to have you vote for her picture to win. She's on a competitive dance team with the Brookfield Dance Academy (BDA) and they are having a contest where she needed to post a picture showing her love for BDA and the picture with the most votes wins a prize.

I'm not sure if you have to like their page to vote, so hopefully someone can try it and let me know.

I've put the link below. Just look for the recent post by Lisa Brussow in their timeline - I've included the picture we posted below of her doing a Scorpion - a move she learned at BDA.

Thank you so much for doing this! It will make Sophia so happy to get votes!!!

Where does the time go...

Oh my gosh, I can't believe that my last post was August 8th - yikes!  Well, you know what they say about good intentions...as you can tell, I never did get the time to focus on being crafty.

This could be either good news or bad news, I have a total of 10 people with birthdays coming up that I need to make cards for.  So, I will either have some stuff to post soon or will end up having to buy birthday cards...lol

In the meantime, here are some pics showing what I've been up to in August...

Taking my daughter to dance competitions and dance performances....

Taking my daughter to the Victoria Justice concert at the Wisconsin State Fair...

Eating and drinking with family and friends at the Milwaukee County Zoo Ala Carte...

Getting school pictures and registration done.  I can't believe school is starting in 2 weeks...

Checking in...

Hi Everyone!

I'm super sorry about being away for so long.  Life got in the way as usual.  I started a new job a little over 2 weeks ago, so I've been trying to focus on learning that and have not devoted much time to crafting.

I truly miss it when I'm not scrapbooking or making cards, so I need to schedule some time to spend being creative again.

I signed up for the Cricut Circle again, but have not been able to get onto the message board (ughhh - so frustrating).  I don't have the luxury to call during the day since I'm at work, so I've sent an email and am hoping that I will actually get a resolution from that soon.  Hopefully I'll be chatting again with those of you whom are still in the Circle this week.

Hope everyone's summer is going well!

Sympathy Card

Hi Everyone!

I have a project to share with you today.  Unfortunately, it happens to be a sympathy card.  I much prefer happy, whimsical cards and tend to really struggle on sympathy cards; which I bet I'm not alone on.

My husband's uncle passed away on Monday and my friend's grandmother passed away late last week, so I made these cards for the families.  I used different colors to give them a slightly different feel.

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up - Loving Memories set and the flower is from Penny Black - Chandelier Stamp.  Ink is Stampin' Up Close to Cocoa on the first card and VersaMagic Pumpkin Spice on the second.  The pattern paper is from DCWV the Amber Autumn Stack.

Sussex Lions Daze Parade

Hi Everyone!

I haven't been feeling very crafty lately so I don't have any projects to post :o(  but I have had lots to keep me busy.  Today my daughter was in another parade - the Sussex Lions Daze Parade.  After it being so hot for the last parade she was in, she definitely wasn't looking forward to this one.
